Announcement - General Assembly 2010 in Krakow, Poland

Dear members of IHEYO,

IHEYO announces its General Assembly 2010 in Krakow, Poland.
At the weekend of 8th-10th October they are having a big humanist march in
Warsaw (for old and young and there are already some German and French
youngsters present). Our GA will provide a stimulus to that activity to
bring youth there as well as make it attractive for our members. After the
march the youth will organise café debates and some additional event.
The exact venue details will follow.
Combined to that, IHEYO can gladly announce its second European Working
group meeting, which will take place within these time period. The topic
of the second EWG meeting will be ”European communication channels and
using our own resources“, discussing questions of a common working
structure between the European member organisations of IHEYO and focusing
on the preparations for IHEYOs youth sessions while the IHEU Congress in
Oslo 2011 under the theme „Humanism and Peace“. It will focus also on how
we as individuals and as organisations can work to enhance our
common goals. The meeting will address the need of networking among young
humanists. Especially it aims to furtherbuild up the European Working
Group of IHEYO and to motivate more groups from Europe to join.
On Friday we will welcome the participants and will hold the first part of
the IHEYO General Assembly (GA, annual meeting of members) in the late
evening. The actual EWG meeting will take place on Saturday to the
announced theme including a meeting with our Polish partner PRA. During
Sunday we will have the second part of the GA including new elections,
membership applications and for the first time membership changes.
We hope to bring together around 20 humanist minded youth not only from
Poland, but also from surrounding European countries and some
international participants from all over the world. With youth IHEYO aims
on young people between 18 and 35 years of age.
Practical Information:
Please write to to register for the General
Assembly and the EWG meeting and send us your official delegation letter
of your member organisation.
If your organisation cannot attend the GA, please inform us about the same
and give IHEYO the possibility with your transfered vote to realize a
legal GA in 2010.
IHEYO and its partner PRA will provide any support for your reservation
and accomodations, but cannot reimburse your travel and staying costs. Due
to that reason there is no further fee to pay next to your own made costs.
So any travel costs and visa costs to the General Assembly and EWG meeting
need to be paid and arranged by the participants or their organisations.

Follow up action on Membership

Dear member,

Our warmest regards from the IHEYO executive committee! We are happy to
invite you to our upcoming General Assembly, regional events and to our site
where you will find our monthly e-newsletter. In this message we are
contacting you for our annual request to receive updated information from
our members.

From all members we need annually an update from you. If we would not
receive this technically IHEYO is in a position to change or cancel your
membership. The EC will actually consider this and propose cancellations and
changes in membership status from organisations we have not heard from in
this and the past two years. We want to improve the networking within IHEYO
and for this we want to build more active partnerships with our members. In
some situations we heard that the member organisation does not exist anymore
or is not doing youth work anymore; we want to find out if membership or the
current status is still relevant for them.

At the GA of 2008 the member present decided on an annual procedure for
members to send a copy of the annual report, action plan or English
summaries of the same to IHEYO each year, starting in 2009.

The executive committee has not heard of the following members in the past
two years. We are trying our best to contact them and any help our
suggestions are welcomed! We hope to hear especially from this members so we
know if they still exist or are still interested.
