Registering for Conference
The conference focuses on young persons between 15 and 35 years, especially humanists and Human Right activists (people active within non-profit organisations). Older humanists may participate too when they want.
To register for the conference one need to fill online the application form one can find here. The deadline for applying is 31 of March. When the organizers receive more applicants than we can host, we will need to make a selection. Every one that registers will be notified in the second week of April whether he or she is selected as participant.
Please register as soon as possible and when you need certainty about your registration before the 31th of March (because of practical arrangements) do let the organizers know.
Participation fee
The participation fee for the conference is 40 Euros for participants from
developing countries and 75 Euros for participants from developed countries.
Waiving of the Fee is possible (see sponsorship possibilities). It is needed
to pay the fee in advance, more information about this will follow when registration
is formally acknowledged by the conference organizers.
Sponsorships?
Yes, there are sponsorship for the conference for participation fee and travel.
Sponsorship opportunity is available ONLY for participants from African countries.
Applicants can apply for either or both sponsorship opportunities. Especially small amounts of financial support are fairly easy to sponsor by the organizers. One can apply for sponsorship by stating this on the Application Form.
Practical Details
Participants will be lodged in a hotel in Kampala during the conference. And
the conference will be held at the Makerere University/Human Right House in
Kampala. Foods will be provided by the organizers (breakfast, lunch, dinner
and tea breaks). And the transport (between the hotel to the conference center)
will also be taken care of by the organizers. This all included in the Fee.
The organizers are also able to give information about flight tickets to Uganda.
Travel costs from your area to Kampala are not covered by the organizers,
for some there is travel sponsorship (see sponsorship possibilities).
Visa to Uganda
Citizens in most countries need to arrange a Visa to go to Uganda. There are
a few exceptions of countries where you don't need a Visa to go to Uganda:
Angola, Antigua, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Burundi, Eritrea, Fiji, Gambia,
Grenada, Jamaica, Kenia, Komoren, Lesotho, Madagaskar, Malawi, Malta, Mauritius,
Ruanda, Sambia, Seychellen, Sierra Leone, Zimbabwe, Singapore, Solomon Islands,
St. Vincent, Swaziland, Tanzania, Tonga,
Vanuatu and Cyprus.
Please check as soon as possible with the Ugandian Embassy in your country for the time they need to arrange your visa. As far as we know this will take at least some weeks to arrange. The organizers will try to help with arranging the visa where possible.
Vaccins for Uganda
No vaccination is compulsory for getting your Visa, except the yellow fever
if you are in a country where yellow fever is. However there are some recommendations.
Basic vaccinations:
Diphteria-Tetanus, Polio, Hepatitis A+B, Yellow Fever, malaria and Typhus
-Hepatitis A + B consists of 3 doses. Two have to be taken before you leave
and it has to be 4 weeks between first dose and the second one.
Additional vaccinations
-for when you have a bathing vacation: cholera and meningococcal meningitis
-if you are going around the country you should also have vaccines for rabies
and prophylaxis for malaria.
Please ensure your own health when visiting Uganda and arrange the necessary for yourself.
Language
Official Language of the conference is English.
