One of the most noteworthy and famous philosophers of the 19th century, Marx's legacy continues well until today. Although not the main focus of his work, Marx has ofttimes criticised religion as part and parcel of the oppressive structures of society. One has to rid oneself from religion in order to liberate oneself.
