2nd World Conference on Untouchability
The International Humanist and Ethical Union (IHEU), International Humanist and Ethical Youth Oragnisation (IHEYO), the Global Alliance against untouchability, the Society for Humanism Nepal (SOCH) and the National Dalit Commission of Nepal jointly organized the 2nd World Conference on Untouchability. This conference, held in Kathmandu, was a continuation of the first World Conference on Untouchability, which was held in London, ahead of the UK Parliamentary Initiative on outlawing discrimination on the basis of Caste.

Having toured most cities around the island of Mindanao, here in the Philippines, as an astronomy lecturer (providing basic astronomical lessons for children at elementary and secondary levels),
I can’t help but realize the impact of religion and superstition in creating a distorted perspective of science and the scientific method. The majority of The Philippines is Roman Catholic; however, in the southernmost island of Mindanao (where my work is based), there is also a substantial Muslim population.

‘Kuriti’ is the Nepali word for improper cultural practices; practices maintained as customs or traditions, which violate an individual’s human rights.
57 such improper cultural practices have been identified in Nepali society. These improper cultural practices or ‘kuriti’ mainly victimize members of marginalized groups, such as women, children, untouchables, and other economically deprived members of society.

Society for Humanism (SOCH) Nepal is organizing 3rd international conference against untouchability in Kathmandu, Nepal between 17 to 18 of April 2014. First conference was organized in London with the initiation of IHEU. Second was oranised in Nepal again.

Pakistani Humanists to initiate project to counter Extremism
The project titled “Engaging Young People through Theatre and Media to Counter Extremism”, aims to To create a culture of equality, acceptability, and tolerance among youth for protecting them from falling into the trap of radicalization and countering extremism by accurate messaging. As part of the project, CDA will conduct 40 theatre performance in South Punjab at different educational institutions including Madrisahs (religious seminaries) engaging a total of 2,000 young people (aged 15 – 24 years) from November 2013 to October 2014.
