Jahwar Amber Humanist Trust Fund

Kenya is recently progressing towards embracing the unity of associated humanism, coming into realisation that many groups have emerged since the IHEU Conference in Kampala, the Humanist Visions for Africa in 2004. As such, most organisations in Kenya are hindered for lack of funding, and JAHT will develop means and ways of assisting the Humainst and Ethical Union of Kenya to become an umbrella body for humanist groups in Kenya.  Thus,

  The objects of the Trust shall be: (a)                To develop ways for the protection  and conservation of humanism in Kenya by utilising funds from the Trust Fund;            (b)               To stand possessed of the Trust Fund and to maintain and manage all assets comprised in the Trust Fund; (c)                Without any restriction to or derogation from paragraph 3.1(a) to create public awareness of the value of humanism through the Humanist and Ethical Union of Kenya in order to promote the principles, ideals and philosophy of Humanism by all available means including education and communication; (d)               To enable the Humanist and Ethical Union of Kenya provide opportunities for Humanistic service, study and community life (e)                Without any restriction to or derogation from paragraph 3.1(a) to conduct seminars, training schemes and informative demonstrations in schools and other places of learning so as to create awareness amongst students on the importance of freedom of inquiry, reason and critical thinking. (f)                 Without any restriction to or derogation from paragraph 3.1(a) to set up centers for the advocacy of atheism and humanism;  (g)                Without any restriction to or derogation from paragraph 3.1(a) to promote and carry out or assist in the promotion and carrying out of outreach surveys and investigations in relation to humanism and related matters, and publish the useful results thereof for the benefit of the public; (h)               Without any restriction to or derogation from paragraph 3.1(a) to fund or support, by monetary donations or in kind, a center or centers, educational or otherwise, where one or all of the activities of the center are relevant to the objects of this trust; (i)                 To offer and provide meaningful and dignified Humanist ceremonies at significant times such as name giving, marriage and death. (j)                 Without any restriction to or derogation from paragraph 3.1(a) to carry on any or all the businesses of stationers, proprietors, printers and publishers of books, journals, scientific papers, reference books, catalogues and other literary works on reptiles and dealers in, or manufacturers or hirers of any of the above or other articles relevant to the dissemination of information on humanism; (k)               To cooperate with and provide mutual support to other charitable organizations registered under the Income Tax Act (Kenya) which have similar objectives; (l)                 Without any restriction to or derogation from paragraph 3.1(a) to adopt such means of publicising the Trust, its objects, undertakings, businesses, projects by advertisement in the media, by pamphlets, circulars, publication of books, periodicals, catalogues, and by the grant of prizes, donations, awards and scholarships; and             (j)         To carry out such activities from time to time as the Trustees may deem fit for the advancement of the objects of the Trust set out herein and to expend such monies for these purposes as the Trustees may deem fit.
