Atheist Centre is a social change institution founded by Gora (1902-1975) and Saraswathi Gora (1912) in the year 1940 at Mudnur village in Krishna district, Andhra Pradesh, India. On the eve of the Independence to the country, Atheist Centre was shifted to Vijayawada in 1947 and since then it has been the hub of activity for promotion of atheism, humanism and social change.
Atheist Centre carries on its multifarious activities with the cooperation and good will of the people. Since the demise of Gora in 1975, Atheist Centre carries on all its activities under the able guidance of Ms Saraswathi Gora, the co-founder of the Centre. She is assisted by the dedicated team of people who are engaged in the promotion of atheism as a way of life.
SDF is a humanist organisation working to impart scientific education among people to eradicate superstition and myths regarding women and vulnerable sections of the society. Agrarian reform with a gender sensitivity is one of the prime focus of SDF apart from right to food, secular values and development of scientific temper among the community they are working with, such as tribals, Dalits, women, minorities and other backward communities in India like fishermen, scavengers and women from Muslim community.
The Asian Working Group is a joint humanist effort in this continent to foster humanist values and ideas. Since its inception in 2007, it has published information bullitens, has had regular meetings and organized events. The Working Group was part of organizing the IHEYO 2009 International Conference in Nepal on the secular state. And in 2010 it was part of organizing a regional leadership training in Nepal.
